Two surface characters in one fabric; double-layer, heavier construction. Because the two layers are bonded as they knit, a difference in colour, texture or lustre can be designed into a single fabric in a controlled way, and both faces stay clean despite the thicker cross-section.

Properties

Its self-supporting body reduces the need for lining and gives structured patterns a defined stance. It suits jackets, coats, kimono-shaped pieces and reversible designs, as well as minimal constructions that leave the edges raw.

With Double Face, Tutku Fabric treats the move from sample to bulk as a separate step with its production partners. A construction that holds on a small sample machine may not repeat at full width and long yardage, so a limited pre-production lot is knitted after approval, and the bond between the two layers and the width balance are verified there. Bulk is opened only once that pre-lot is approved.

Sourcing and sampling process

Tutku Fabric does not knit; it is a sourcing and marketing partner working with mills experienced in this construction. When your enquiry arrives we settle the target weight, width, composition and end use, send suitable options from existing swatch cards and, where needed, plan a trial knit with the mill.

Weight, width and after-wash measurements are recorded on the sample; the approved sample becomes the written reference for bulk. Checkpoints on the greige knit, after dyeing and before dispatch are followed, and requested physical tests are run by an independent laboratory. Minimums and lead time are set with the mill according to colour count and dyehouse schedule, then confirmed to you in writing.
